OPEN POSITION AT THE CRMN
Professor in NMR methodology at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon
The Very High Field NMR Center of Lyon is inviting applications for a professor position in NMR methodology at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon. The profile is summarised below, and the deadline for the application has been extended and is now on April 9, 2020 (a single application form, including supporting documents, must be submitted on the Galaxie web interface).
The Very High Field NMR Center of Lyon is a joint laboratory of the ENS de Lyon, the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1. It houses a world-wide unique experimental platform, with 7 NMR spectrometers ranging from 400 to 1000 MHz (a project for the acquisition of a higher-field spectrometer is in progress), equipped for advanced methodological and instrumental NMR developments in solution and in the solid state. The center is also equipped with 2 gyrotrons and 2 polarizers for hyperpolarized NMR under magic angle spinning and by dissolution. Today, five research groups develop projects at the interface between physical chemistry, structural biology, catalysis, material sciences and health. The candidate will be able to establish a new research group, complementary and connected to existing ones. He or she will participate to the scientific life of the center, will be involved in the operation of the national high-field NMR infrastructure, and will contribute to the funding of his / her research and of the platform through applications to regional, national and international calls for projects.
The newly recruited professor will be teaching at the L3 (bachelor), M1 and M2 (master) level in several teaching units in physical chemistry, within the framework of the “Sciences de la Matière” that is a shared teaching program for the students of the Physics and the Chemistry Departments at ENS de Lyon. He/she will also be involved in the training program for the agrégation, the French most selective teaching certification. He/she will be active in the life of the Chemistry Department (competitive admission examination for new students at the ENS de Lyon, implementation of joint diplomas with partner universities) and in the definition of tomorrow’s teaching programs. The newly recruited professor will be expected to assume both teaching and administrative responsibilities at the ENS de Lyon.
